Peto Presents…The Courts: Then and Now

PLEASE NOTEThe Courts Then and Now will be a virtual event.  Participants will be emailed an invitation to join the event 24 hours prior to the start of the event.  

How has the Judiciary evolved over the years to address emerging social issues, while remaining true to its core values of independence and fairness? With an emphasis on Criminal law, Judge Linda Baxter will discuss changes in the following areas: how juries are selected, the elimination of cash bail, the decision to try a juvenile as an adult, restricting the parole eligibility of violent offenders, the abolition of the death penalty, and efforts to rehabilitate drug-dependent defendants through Drug Court.
