K-6 STEAM Pilot Program – Peto’s Palette Pals

The K-6 STEAM Pilot Program is a collaboration between the Historic Artists’ Homes and Studios (HAHS) of the National Trust for Historic Preservation and the John F. Peto Studio Museum, a member of the HAHS network. Through a pilot project launched by the John F. Peto Studio Museum, the collaboration created a STEAM program for grades K-6, centered around numerous artists represented within the HAHS program, selected to reflect a wide range of artistic eras, styles, media and geographic locations. The goal was for any site to adapt this program to include their artist(s) or site, present the program as originally crafted, or utilize the program to enhance similar initiatives already occurring at an individual HAHS site.

The Educational Resources included here are primarily meant for educators within the HAHS network but may also be shared with educators within HAHS site communities. It is hoped that HAHS may grow this program to include modules/lesson plans representative of other sites within the network.

Support for these materials for distribution to educators has been provided through an award to Historic Artists’ Homes and Studios from the Henry Luce Foundation.
